Coloring ideas for the sitting cat
- Try a ginger tabby: orange for the body and darker orange stripes on the forehead.
- Give the flower beside the cat petals in the child's favorite color.
- Add a rug or a patch of grass under the ground line to finish the scene.
How to print this sitting cat coloring page
- Choose the PDF that matches your paper: Letter in the US and Canada, A4 in most other countries.
- Open the file and print at 100% or “Actual size”. The page is already sized to the sheet, so there is nothing to fit or scale.
- Regular printer paper works for crayons and pencils. Use heavier paper or cardstock for markers so the color doesn't bleed through.
- Printing for a group? Print one copy, check the margins on your printer, then print the rest of the stack.

- No. The PDF opens in any browser or PDF reader on a computer, tablet or phone, and prints from there.
Why kids like cat coloring pages
Cats are one of the easiest animals for a young child to recognise and to color: a round head, two pointed ears, whiskers and a long tail. The shapes are big and closed, so even a first box of crayons gives a result the child is proud of.
They are also forgiving. A cat can be orange, gray, black, white, striped or patched, so there is no wrong choice, and older kids can try a tabby or a calico pattern on the same outline.
Things to talk about while coloring
- What color is a cat you know, and what is its name?
- Why do cats have whiskers?
- What sound does a happy cat make?
What to color it with
- Crayons
- Best for ages 3 to 5. The wide tip fills big areas fast and the thick outlines hide small slips.
- Colored pencils
- Good from age 6. They allow light and dark shades of the same color and stay inside narrow shapes.
- Markers
- Bright and even, but they soak through thin paper. Print on heavier paper and put a spare sheet underneath.
More ways to use it
- Print two per sheet and fold them into party favors or a rainy-day activity pack.
- Glue the finished drawing onto folded card for a birthday or thank-you card.
- Laminate a copy and color it with dry-wipe markers, again and again.
- Tape it to a window and trace the outline onto plain paper to practise drawing.
